am i the only one who thinks

that this is just puritanism with its “science” clothes on?

First, the mere presence of dopamine in the brain during sexual arousal or orgasm doesn’t necessarily prove what the video claims; dopamine has quite a number of functions in the brain — some reward-related, some not as much. Second, assuming for argument’s sake that dopamine plays a reward function during sex, the question remains why some people have a problem with pornography (or gambling, or exercise(?)), and others don’t. (Heck, even cocaine can be used recreationally if you have the right brain.) Presenting pornography “addiction” as a uniform phenomenon affecting everybody (note the inclusive use of pronouns like “we”), based on an overly broad and simplistic theory of brain mechanism, obscures deeper and more interesting realities about human behavior.
